To Preserve, Promote and Protect our Schelangen by providing well planned and managed construction projects on time and within budget.

The responsibilities of the Public Works Department include the construction, repair and maintenance of Indian Reservation roads and Whatcom County roads which traverse the reservation. Additionally, the the Department is responsible for sidewalk construction, repair, maintenance, and facilities construction, alteration and maintenance. The department also constructs the tribe's capital projects and provides technical and operational support to other departments and agencies.

The department staff includes the director, three project managers, a project liaison and an accountant.

The department works in conjunction with Planning, Natural Resources, Cultural Department, Lummi Tribal Water & Sewer, Facility Maintenance and the General Manager's office to make sure projects are completed with best management practices, within budget, and on time.
